Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2015
Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesRodney Strong was a fan of Alexander Valley cabernet sauvignon as early as 1971 when he first planted Alexander’s Crown. Today the winery farms four different estate vineyards on the benches and hillsides of the Alexander Valley that explore all the valley has for terroir. There is both refinement and richness here but it all begins with a fragrant nose of cedar, plums, cassis, and black pepper with flecks of milk chocolate. The texture and tannins well managed, providing a soft backdrop to the savoury black cherry, blackberry, smoky espresso vanilla flavours — New World style but with freshness, and like all the wines at Rodney Strong, a growing sense of place. You could drink this now with grilled meats but it will reward three to five years in the bottle. The wine spends 18 months in 100 percent French oak barrels, half of which are new.Tasted: 20 February 2018Tasted by: Prices:BC | $35.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
