Matsu El Recio 2015
Toro, Castilla-Leon, SpainThis characterful (quite literally - see the label) 50-70-year-old tempranillo is thick with Toro heat, coating the palate with dark chocolate, black fruits, tar and vanilla. Tannins are fierce and unforgiving, but by bracketing a silken palate seem tamed (most certainly after a decant). This is intense; you can feel the alcohol here up to the bitter / medicinal cherry and highly grippy finish. I recommend roasted lamb or meat pies to match.Tasted: 15 February 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $29.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
