Barone Ricasoli Castello di Brolio Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2015

Florence, Tuscany, ItalyA selection ofd plots across the estate, the 2015 Castello di Brolio Gran Selezione showcases the beauty vintage to the best of its ability. Sangiovese is splashed with cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot here in a move away from classical, but towards Brolio. After a stainless ferment, the wine is aged for 21 months in French oak barriques and tonneaux (20 percent new) until bottling July 2015, where it will wait until its release in July 2018. The firm structure is filled with salty anise, medicinal black cherry, and leather, gripped with fine, tight and unyielding tannins. Long in the mouth to the grippy finish, the vintage renders this drinkable now, but experience says wait. The wood-built tannins reckon that this wine needs 5+ years.Tasted: 23 February 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
