Champagne, FranceRuinart Blanc de Blancs is what it should be: elegant and stylish, not unlike its classic bottle shape. The fruit is all 1er Cru rated and grown in Côtes de Blancs, Montagne de Reims, Sézanne, and St. Thierry. It’s chardonnay with 20 percent reserve wine added to the blend. The ageing regime on its lees is a minimum of 28 to 36 months before disgorgement and a dosage of a barely noticeable 8.5 g/L of sugar. Look for enticing toasted brioche notes, creamy textures, tiny bubbles, and a citrus backbone. The elegant finish is alive and long, with notes of hazelnut, chalk, and minerality. Sold with a paper jacket that protects the wine in its clear bottle from light stike.Tasted: 15 December 2022Tasted by: Prices:
Champagne, FranceChampagne Ruinart was founded in 1729, making it the one of the first established Champagne Houses. As elegant and distinctive as the bottle, this is primarily from 1er Cru and Grand Cru fruit on the Côtes de Blancs and Montagne de Reims, with 10 percent each from Sézanne and St. Thierry, north of the Vessel Valley. Much of the fruit is estate holdings from its parent company, LVMH. The blend has 20-25% reserve wines from the previous two vintages), and after a stainless ferment, the whole spends a minimum of 3 years on the lees before an 8.5 g/L dosage. Be sure to keep this clear glassed bottle covered until right before opening to prevent light strike. Toasted brioche opens this classic, leading to a full-bodied, creamy, doughy, lees-decked palate of green apple, lemon, meringue, fresh hazelnut, and deep chalk. The smart use of chardonnay from the Montagne de Reims gives a generosity to the palate, while still holding onto that chardonnay spire of acidity. The finish stretches out far along a humming, buzzing chalky minerality, drawing you back for another sip. Seek out one in a box to prevent light strike, and enjoy this classic BdB now.Tasted: 19 October 2021Tasted by: Prices:

It is made with 1er Cru fruit on the Côtes de Blancs and Montagne de Reims, with 10% each from Sézanne and St. Thierry. Aging on the lees is for a minimum of 28 months before disgorgement and top-up of barely noticeable 7g/L of sugar. Fineness, purity, light on its feet, ethereal, all speak to the styling of this almond-scented, toasted fizz framed with impossibly small bubbles that lead to a bright, lengthy, meringue-like finish.
