Louis Roederer et Philippe Starck Champagne Brut Nature 2009
Champagne, FranceThis is the second wine designed via collaboration with artist Philippe Starck, the first being the 2006. The line allows the legendary house of Roederer to break from form somewhat, and explore new, highly artistic, styles. Hazelnut, brioche is expressed through a streamline of vibrating acidity on this creamy, yet crisp vintage Champagne. Two-thirds pinot noir and pinot meunier, with the remainder chardonnay, all farmed with biodynamic practices and all from the Côteaux de Cumières, were picked and pressed on the same day, together. This striking wine plays on contrast, with the austerity of zero dosage and no malo playing against the cushioned quarter of the wine vinified in oak and the five years on the lees. White peach, white honey, scented with chestnut, aniseed, lemon pith, toasted biscuit and bedded with thicker cream that stretches the lengthy, lemony, humming finish. Modern and sophisticated, and inherently Roederer.Tasted: 30 December 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:QC | $109.00 | 750ml | SAQ |
