Champagne Billecart-Salmon Brut Rose NV
Champagne, FranceBillecart-Salmon is one of the few remaining Champagne houses to be owned by the original family, established in 1818 by Nicolas-François Billecart. Most of Billecart-Salmon's fruit comes from estate fruit, though this is supplemented with grapes bought in from the Marne Valley and the Montagne de Reims. The house is known for their rosé. Roughly 40/30/30 chardonnay/pinot noir/pinot meunier, with 7 percent-ish pinot noir red wine (from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ) and 9 g/l dosage, with 36 months on the lees. This pours a paler pink hue, with pink grapefruit, mandarin, light cherry, lean strawberry on the tight and nimble palate. Lightly toasted brioche and firm, filigreed acidity carry this to a lingering, chalky, grippy finish.Tasted: 09 December 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $119.99 | 750ml | private wine shops |
