Benjamin Bridge Brut Méthode Classique 2012

Gaspereau Valley, Nova Scotia, CanadaThe 2012 Brut, newly released, is a blend of 63 percent chardonnay, 25 percent pinot noir, 12 percent pinot meunier that spent four years on the lees. The base wine for this cuvée was split ten percent in neutral oak and the remainder in stainless steel, with no malolactic fermentation to preserve Gaspereau's inherent marine freshness. This, in conjunction with the extended growing season, shapes this characteristic Brut (the driest of their fizz) into its sleek, streamline and extremely lengthy form, tingling with a grippy minerality and zingy lemon pith. Tight green apple, crystalline lemon, light toast and zesty peach are held at riveting attention, shimmering with lemon thistle and stones to the lengthy finish. Neither sharp nor severe, this is a serious, ageworthy, intense and impressively light wine, especially considering all is packed into a slight frame of 11 percent alcohol (TA 9.1 g/l, pH 3.03). Canada's best sparkling winery proves itself again.Tasted: 01 December 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
