Rheingau, GermanyIt's a rare treat to find a 2008 riesling as current release on our shelves, but I guess the folks at the LCBO found some of this Hattenheim Nussbrunnen available and loaded up. From one of the largest vineyard holders in the Rheingau, this is from the choice slopes of Nussbrunnen. Heady and generous pear butter, lime pulp, ripe peach, petroleum and broken stones to a textural, eraser-nubs finish. Quite sweet, but countered by the savoury, secondary undercurrent.
