Il Poggione Rosso di Montalcino 2014
Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyCrushed cassis, perfumed red currant and wild raspberries open this savoury Rosso di Montalcino, an early-drinking red compared to the firm and regal Brunello di Montalcino wines. That said, this sangiovese, from young vines, still has heaps of structure, from one year in oak barrels and barriques, followed by time in bottle to allow the young vines to settle. Now black cherry, wild blueberry and supple leather is framed with tea leaves and finishes with a grippy, raspy spice that chokes out the finish.Tasted: 31 December 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $26.50 | 750ml | private wine shops |
