Tinhorn Creek Oldfield Reserve Syrah 2014
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRoasted meats, smoked branch, resin, charcoal and black pepper and cherries fill the full palate of this Oldfield Reserve Syrah, sourced from the Diamondback Vineyard on Black Sage Bench, and the Tinhorn Creek Vineyard on Golden Mile Bench. This was co-fermented with two percent viognier before spending eight weeks on skins and pressing into French, Hungarian and American oak, one third of which was new. After 18 months in the woods, this is bottle rested for year prior to release. The wood is still front and centre here, with smoked stave, some gritty tannins and a blocky palate. Not ready for prime time yet; to be revisited in a year's time.Tasted: 21 August 2017Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $31.99 | 750ml | winery direct, private retail, restaurants |
