Stag's Hollow Vidal - Orange Wine Stag's Hollow Vineyard 2016
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOrange is the new white per winemaker Dwight Sick although I’m guessing it won’t sell quite as well as white wine. The orange comes from extended, open-top (oxidative) skin contact, in this case three weeks. The vidal is 30 years old and harvested at peak ripeness. The fruit is drained and basket pressed into stainless steel where it spends another six weeks on full lees before it’s racked and bottled without any fining or filtration. The wine is dry with terrific acidity, the fruit is muted with mostly citrus highlights that will go well with food. It’s an acquired taste but of the many in the market this is among the cleanest and the freshest. It will be fun to see how this wine develops.Tasted: 02 August 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $21.99 | 750ml | winery direct |
