Lock and Worth Semillon 2015

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA naturally-made stunner, this is from a single vineyard in Kelowna planted in 1993, fermented wild and whole cluster pressed before fourteen months on full solids in neutral French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered (evident from the ample clumps of harmless solids at the bottom of the bottle). Understated confidence, and two years old (as a current release) this is savoury and hay textured, with scents of quince before a palate textured with earthy lees, flax, wildflower honey and bitter apple / pear skins. Flake sea salts echo on the lengthy finish. This is impressive now, and will be even more so with semillon's honeyed sheen over the next decade.Tasted: 29 August 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
