Clos du Soleil Grower's Series Syrah Middle Bench Vineyard 2014
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaClos du Soleil’s first ever syrah to be released under the Growers Series disappeared fast. The nose is an enticing mix of cracked black pepper and floral, deep blueberry fruit aromas and flavours. Classic savoury stony Similkameen on the finish, with just enough tannins to take on grilled lamb. Picked by hand at peak maturity, the grapes are fermented in small open top fermenters for a full month, with manual, daily punch-downs. It’s aged for 16 months in French oak barrels. Sold out, but look for this in better BC restaurants.Tasted: 11 October 2017Tasted by: Prices:
Clos du Soleil Grower's Series Syrah Middle Bench Vineyard 2014
Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is the first syrah from Similkameen's Clos du Soleil, and one worthy and fitting enough for the Grower's Series range. Sultry and dusky black pepper, slight smoke and ample perfumed dark florals fill this very generous, medium bodied red. Tannins are appropriately grippy, while piercing acidity drives the savoury blackcurrant and vanilla pod to the lengthy finish. Ripe, generous and peppery, with medicinal black cherry echoing on the finish. Lovely purity.Tasted: 21 August 2017Tasted by: Prices:
