Rémi Leroy Blanc de Blancs 2009
Champagne, FranceThis is a rare 100 percent chardonnay from The Aube, a region dominated by pinot noir, even though 95 percent of the vineyard is Kimmerdgean soil (the same as in chardy-central Chablis). The young Remi Leroy farms 3 of his family's 9 ha here, selling the remaining fruit for additional income, and with the goal to use all of the fruit for his non-interventionist label. The only inputs he uses is a small addition of sulphur. Gossamer lightness, with a beauty fine hum that keeps lifting up. Delicate, wild strawberries, white cherries are carried with a fine driving capillary of acidity. This is the most effortless, lifted and stunning blanc de blancs that I have tasted in a long time. Dances on the palate, to a very lengthy finish. Very impressive.Tasted: 27 July 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:US | $45.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
