Kessler Jägergrün Brut Riesling NV

GermanyThere's Sekt, and then there's serious Sekt. The word Flaschengärung on this label (without Traditionnelle appended) indicates this Sekt that underwent its second fermentation in the bottle, though disgorgement was in tank under pressure via the transfer method. The first recorded date of Sekt dates back to 1826, when Georg Christian Kessler, ex-employee of Veuve Clicquot, founded G. C. Kessler & Co. Jägergrün has been produced since 1910, a crisp, tight and focused riesling fizz, off-dry with pear, yellow apple, white peach and petrol streaking along the racy palate, finishing with lingering tangerine pith and oils. Lovely concentration, appropriate as an aperitif, or with brunch.Tasted: 27 July 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
