DouRosa Vinho Branco 2009

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalWhat fortune to find this vintage of a white Portuguese wine currently on shelves in BC. If you think all Portuguese wines are cheap and cheerful drink-nows, think again. This blend of old vine viosinho, gouveio, arinto is from granitic soils, 600m altitude above the rugged Douro Valley. Honeyed almonds, rock salts, pear leather, quince, stones flow slowly along the palate, buoyed by an ever-present wave of easy acidity. The finish snaps with mineral salts - highly impressive, and lingering. This has shed all the fresh fruit of youth, revealing layers of maturity far beyond its price.Tasted: 05 July 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
