Black Hills Carménère 2015
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOpen, dried crushed leaf nose with an alluring lilac / lily fragrance. This deep and ripe 100 percent carménère is certainly a Canadian rarity although we suggest it may become a larger player down the road. This intense, compact wine spent time in both French and American wood, and carries lashings of blueberry, red liquorice, leather, raspberry compote mixed with smoked stones and savoury dried herbs. Tannins are powdery and sticky, finishing floral. A striking, pungent carménère, (no green here), all within 13 percent alcohol.Tasted: 15 June 2017Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $59.90 | 750ml | wine club members only |
