Road 13 Chip Off The Old Block Chenin Blanc 2016Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis younger vines chenin is from cuttings from the winery's Old Vines Chenin Blanc Vineyard (from 1968). The concentrated parentage is felt here, aided by whole bunch pressing, but kept brighter than its elder with time in stainless. Still mouth filling and creamy, this is filled with quince, yellow apple, white peaches, pear blossoms and heady spice lingering on the warming finish. I'd love even more of an acid cut to the fruity richness, though this is an appealing, approachable, full bodied white to enjoy now with halibut.
