Western Cape, South AfricaPioneer Elgin winemaker Paul Cluver makes this Western Cape chardonnay for the local RSA market. Creamy and likeable, with white orchard fruit, light spice, just a touch of well-integred wood to house, and a snappy, bright finish. I wish more wineries could make "entry-level" accessible chardy like this, without lashing it with fat oak and vanilla and weight. 13 percent alcohol too.
