Orofino Hendsbee Vineyard Riesling 2015

Cawston, Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Hendsbee Vineyard Riesling is consistent from year to year, never fancy, never showy, just focused. The nose is a lime leaf and citrus affair with some light petrol notes. The attack is spare with firm, dry, stony, mineral, citrus notes that all lead to a complex style built for food. Hendsbee sits adjacent to Orofino’s Home Vineyard and the fruit is a mix of eight to ten-year-old vines tagged as clones 239 and 21B. The site is two-to-four feet sandy loam over nothing but rocks. Not for the timid, this is best served with a mixed charcuterie plate or rich pork dishes now, or cellar it a decade and wait for it to fully expand in the bottle.
