Hester Creek Old Vines Block 16 Trebbiano 2016

Golden Mile Bench, Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA rare curiosity not only in BC, but in Canada, this is 49-year-old trebbiano vines, planted on the Golden Mile Bench and treated with care. After destemming, half the grapes are left whole and the remainder lightly crushed before a cool ferment. Look for musk melon, grapefruit, Asian pear drawn along a ripe, fuller bodied and glycerol slicked palate, one plumped by Okanagan sunshine. Apricot fuzz lingers on the soft round finish. The wine is a huge favourite of locals but we would love to see this tightened up and a little fresher (earlier picked and wild ferment) to give it broader, legit, international appeal and shine a light on this vineyard. As is, it makes a solid accompaniment for pasta salads and calamari.Tasted: 08 May 2017Tasted by: Treve Ring & Anthony GismondiPrices:
