Famille Sumeire Chateau Coussin Sainte-Victoire Côtes de Provence Rosé 2016

Côtes de Provence, Provence, Sud de France, FranceThe Sumeire family has lived in Trets, next to Mont Sainte Victoire, since the thirteenth century, and currently own three châteaux in Provence. This is one of the few wines that bear one of the four, relatively new, official terroir denominations. Unlike most of Provence, Sainte-Victoire is sheltered by the mountains, and the protection from the sea makes this more continental climate than mediterranean. That structure is felt in the wines of Sainte-Victorire, one of the few places in Provence to have some limestone soils. Fine bones frame this lean, straight and structured blend of grenache, cinsault, syrah, all averaging 30 years of age. Sour cherry, strawberry, rhubarb, pink grapefruit sit atop a flow of spiced red currant underneath. Graceful light pink in the glass, this is bone dry and lingers with stones. A welcome new addition to our market.Tasted: 19 May 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
