Cape Point Vineyards Isliedlh 2013

Cape Point, Coastal Region, South AfricaFrom the ocean whipped vineyards at Cape Point, the Peninsula's southern most vines, this is a blend of 82/18 sauvignon blanc / semillon on decomposed granite. Whole bunch pressed, this was 95 percent fermented in barrel (half new) and the remainder in amphora. It spent ten months on the gross lees, with battonage. Rich, seductive but finessed, with a vein of vanilla bean buffering the lees-plush palate. Pear, white peach, freesia, fine sweet spicing to frame, before a swell of warmth on the finish.
