Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesWinemaker Lisa Valtenbergs makes this single-vineyard estate chardonnay from a blend of sites (there are 235 individual blocks) across her mountain vineyards. The result is a sophisticated, nothing-to-do-with-what-you-think-about-California-chardonnay. Pears, stones, apples and peaches have a cool demeanour. The grapes are grown on clay loam between 400-1,800 feet. Of the 5,100 acres that make up the Estate, only 900 are planted to grapes. 100% barrel fermented with native yeast, malolactic fermentation in barrel, and with lees stirred monthly.
