F. Olazabal e Filhos Monte Meão Touriga Nacional 2013
Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalThis touriga nacional was grown on granite, and the ample, dusty stone tannins that structure this wine reflect the severe terrain. After crushing, the grapes were foot trodden in granite lagares before fermenting in French oak. The wine then aged for fifteen months in older French barriques. Potent blueberry, cassis, dark chocolate is perfumed with a tight and fine violet note and scented with red apple blossom perfume. Savoury cured meats and a wash of black tea bitterness linger on the severe finish. This wine is still tight but surprisingly elegant in youth, and will reward with cellaring.Tasted: 06 February 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $71.00 | 750ml | private wine shops |
