Bootleg Red Blend 2012
United StatesThe bootleg red blend is an overtop Napa red swimming in super ripe black fruit and alcohol. Its merlot base, 36 percent, gives it a soft demeanour and the sweet zinfandel, petite sirah, syrah pushes into the chocolate/cherry ‘Apothic’ category with some bitter cabernet tannins in the finish. The cedar and spice is all nice but it’s difficult to finish a glass bearing eight percent residual sugar. Too much of everything we don’t like about New World wine.Tasted: 27 February 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:ON | $59.95 | 750ml | LCBO |
