Tolaini Valdisanti Tenuta S. Giovanni 2012

Castelnuovo Berardenga, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyAnother fine effort in 2012, in what is a rich version of this wine. The Valdisanti Toscana IGT is an organic, super Tuscan red that mixes 75 percent cabernet sauvignon with 20 percent sangiovese and 5 percent cabernet franc. In this case, the cabernet is perfectly ripe and dominating form front to back. The nose is a black fruit and spice affair with a dusting of cocoa. The tannins are dense, fine grained and still very youthful. Impressive value here, and a wine that needs another five to ten years in bottle. Steak comes to mind as the match, or try an aged pecorino. Good value too.Tasted: 06 January 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
