Tolaini Chianti Classico Riserva 2008

Castelnuovo Berardenga, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyThis 100 percent sangiovese comes off a high-density, single vineyard site that is the classic Galestro and limestone soils. The bunches are sorted and the berries are resorted before fermentation in stainless steel and a small amount in French oak fermenters. The wine spends 12 months in wood (six on its fine lees), six months in stainless and six more in bottle. At eight years old this wine is showing a fullness of flavour and depth with black cherry/tobacco flavours spiked with licorice and a stony mineral undercurrent. Surprisingly rich in tannin at this point but balanced with acidity and a long, dry fruity finish. Try this with turkey, guinea fowl or pork dishes.Tasted: 06 January 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
