Tolaini Al Passo 2012

Castelnuovo Berardenga, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyA small, circular forest tops the tallest hill on the Tolaini Estate and is known as Al Passo, a favoured hunting ground for locals centuries ago. An 85/15 IGT blend of sangiovese and merlot grown in the Chianti Classico region over limestone and clay, it trends toward the modern style, with a fair amount of overt cherry fruit and spice to take on its savoury leathery earthy back end. The fermentation is done in stainless steel with a portion going into French oak fermenters (20 percent new and 80 percent one year). It is aged one year in 500-litre French tonneaux. Drink now through 2020.Tasted: 06 January 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
