Pyramid Valley Vineyard Field of Fire Chardonnay 2013

Canterbury, South Island, New ZealandField of Fire is one of four, small, biodynamically farmed vineyards in Pyramid Valley's limestone-laden home site in the Waikari Valley of North Canberbury. This chardonnay was fermented and aged half in barrel and half in amphora before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Stony, wild herbs, ripe pear and riffing, grippy pear skin. You can feel the clay weight on the seamless, round and elastic palate, veiled with fine, savoury lees and lifted with precise and vibrant acidity. The very fine grip finishes with liberal and lingering chalk. Drinking beautifully now, but will last easily 10 more years in cellar.Tasted: 23 January 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
