Pipe'Dreams Gamay 2014
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe valley floor gamay, located below Macintyre Bluff, is all estate grown and was harvested October 6 and 7, de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in small batches before aging in oak barrels and stainless steel drums. The nose is ripe figs and black cherry, almost more pinot noir than gamay. The palate is soft and round with medium acidity and more ripe bush vine fruits before the oak kicks in. The finish is sweet and redolent of baking spices and warmer California pinot characters. Not really gamay-like but tasty nonetheless.
