Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune Blanc 2013

Côte de Beaune, Côte d'Or, Burgundy, FranceFrom estate grapes on the Côte de Beaune (slope above Beaune) as well as some declassified wine from the young vines off the famous Clos des Mouches vineyard. Biodynamically farmed, this youthful Bourgogne blanc was fermented and aged in oak, (20 percent new) for a year. It opens with potent yellow apple, lemon curd, almond and a wash of medicinal lemon warmth on a broad, creamy palate to a shorter, toasty, vanilla finish. Fine citrus lifts somewhat, but the palate heft is grounded, and at this stage in a bit of a dumb phase. Richer, butter-drawn foods are a good match.Tasted: 18 January 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
