Davis Bynum Pinot Noir Jane's Vineyard Clone 23 2014

Russian River, Sonoma County, California, United StatesJane’s Vineyard a well-drained, nutrient poor gravelly, Huichica loam site seldom delivers big yields. The vines get water stressed because of the drainage and lack of root depth so they are watched daily. Clone 23 also known as the Mariafeld clone from Switzerland, stood apart in 2014 topping the French Dijon clone leaving the DB team to say it was the best ever and only on of two lots chosen out of 24 from Jane’s Vineyard to go to bottle separately. Look for dark fruit with strawberry highlights, earthy minerality and delicious silky tannins across the back end. The ferment begins with native yeasts, which come in on the grapes from the vineyard and is 36 percent new oak. Mushrooms dishes come to mind here.Tasted: 02 February 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
