Barone Ricasoli Chianti 2014

Tuscany, ItalyThis entry level Chianti far surpasses many other producers' Chianti Classico and Reserva. Ricasoli excels at creating interesting and accessable wines that are ready to drink, and with potential to age, and this is a perfect example. Savoury dark cherry, woodsy plum, worn leather and branch are seasoned with white pepper and woven with a cured meat note throughout. Tannins are worn and stretched, and acidity is brisk. Stainless steel has preserved the brightness of the predominantly sangiovese blend, while a welcome 13 percent alcohol makes this drinkable with or without food. That said, I highly recommend a sausage / arugula pizza to meet this juicy red.Tasted: 23 January 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
