Yalumba Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz The Signature Robert Hill-Smith 2012

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaThe Yalumba Signature Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 2012 bears the signature of Robert Hill Smith, former CEO of what is one of the most progressive wine companies in the world. Like Robert, this wine is a giant and should last well into the middle of the century if not beyond. The nose is awash in cocoa and blueberries with a savoury, cedar, dried herbs undercurrent. Long, warm, and silky, the fruit becomes expansive as it coats your palate from front to back. Its Hungarian oak ageing seems to have set the fruit free, leaving a very juicy free flowing style that for the moment subdues the dense, round, fine-grained tannins that are fuelling the future. An impressive take on the classic blend and one of the best from Yalumba.Tasted: 22 December 2016Tasted by: Prices:
