Kendall-Jackson Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner's Reserve 2013
Sonoma County, California, United StatesIt’s easy to dismiss the VR wines as introductory wines but there is far more to this wine than meets the label. It’s been more than 30 years since this label launched. The 2013 is 95 percent Sonoma County, 4 percent Mendocino County, 1 percent Napa County and the varietal mix is 85/6/4/4/1 cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, petit verdot, malbec and merlot. It’s all aged 13 months in 63/28/9 French oak, American oak and stainless steel. In 2013 the cool weather yielded a freshness and elegance seldom seen in any California cabernet. Look for bright black cherry, blackberry aromas on the nose. The palate is a seamless mix of black fruit and cassis flecked with cedar, vanilla and bits of mocha. Ready to drink and perfectly suited to red meats.Tasted: 09 December 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $28.99 | 750ml | private wine shops |
