Fonseca Bicentenary Edition Crusted Port Bottled 2008 NV

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalTo commemorate 200 years of family tradition and achievement, Fonseca has made a limited release of a Bicentenary Edition Crusted Port. This one was bottled in 2008. Broken stone, light cassis, blackberry, dark brown sugar and cracked black pepper lead this grippy Port, one that finishes a touch on the firey side at this early stage. A textural component ups the interest here. Crusted is a traditional style and Fonseca is one of very few houses that continue to produce it. It is a blend of rich, full-bodied Ports bottled without fining or filtration. After some time a sediment or 'crust' will form in the bottle.Tasted: 21 December 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
