Esporao Reserva Branco 2014
Alentejo, Central and Southern Portugal, PortugalThis fuller white is a blend of antão Vaz, arinto, and roupeiro from the Alentejo. From an average age of 22 years and a home on clay loam, this spent six months in both stainless steel and new French and American oak barrels with extended lees contact, hugely evident in the overt smoky oak on both the nose and palate. Rich lees, overripe pear, banana custard and tropical blossoms sit on top of the rich bed of lees, finishing with a warm flush. This is a classic case of too much is too much - this would be much more drinkable if the fruit was left to shine clearer.Tasted: 18 December 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $27.49 | 750ml | private wine shops |
