Champagne Pierre Peters Cuvée de Réserve Blanc de Blancs Brut Grand Cru NV
Côte des Blancs, Champagne, FranceRudolphe Peters is the current generation overseeing this estate founded in 1919, nestled in the southern Côte des Blancs' Le Mesnil sur Oger. Grapes for this cuvée come mostly from that village, with supplementing fruit from neighbouring Grands Crus Oger, Cramant, and Avize. It goes through 75% MLF, and these 2018 base wines age in a mix of stainless, wood, and concrete. There are ample reserve wines here (45+% ! ), which have gone through a solera more than 25 vintages deep. This spent at least 2 years on lees and was disgorged with 6-7 g/L. Streamlined and polished, as is the Peters' style, this slides lemon, ample meringue, crisp green apple along the palate, with those special reserve wines bringing a layered undercurrent of savoury lees and deep chalk which echoes on the lingering lemony finish. Great poise and charm here.Tasted: 21 January 2024Tasted by: Prices:

Champagne Pierre Peters Cuvée de Réserve Blanc de Blancs Brut Grand Cru NV
Côte des Blancs, Champagne, FranceThere is nothing like a well made Blanc de Blancs, which is what this sparkler is all about. Finesse, complexity, minerality and citrus play a recurring theme thanks to a blend that involves a mix of stainless steel, wood, and concrete. With 40 percent reserve wines added from two decades gone by, there is no doubt the style remains consistent from year to year. After 24 months on its lees, the wine is disgorged and bottled on a modest 7 grams per litre of sugar. There are few wines a delicious as this chalky, citrus, green apple bubble, with a saline/seawater finish. Buy, drink, or cellar, but buy.Tasted: 19 December 2019Tasted by: Prices:

Champagne Pierre Peters Cuvée de Réserve Blanc de Blancs Brut Grand Cru NV
Côte des Blancs, Champagne, FranceThe Pierre Peters Estate, situated in the heart of the Cote des Blancs in the village of Le Mesnil sur Oger, has been producing Grand Cru Champagne since 1919. Rudolphe Peters is currently in charge of the estate. The vines for this wine are nearing 30 years, sourced from mainly from Le Mesnil sur Oger (70 percent), and with supplementing fruit from Oger, Cramant and Avize. 75 percent go through MLF, and all are aged in a series of steel, wood, and concrete, which is mirrored with the reserve wines (40 percent), though those have entered a solera cuvée more than 20 vintages deep. After two years aging in the bottle this was disgorged with an dosage under 7 g/l. As per the Pierre Peters style, this is pure finesse and elegance. The chiseled palate is greyhound sleek, with chalk, lemon, green apple skipping along the lees-lined palate, buoyed by acidity to a lingering, vanilla meringue, lemon pith finish. They always pack so much into so little; impressive.Tasted: 02 November 2018Tasted by: Prices:
