Champagne Bérèche et Fils Lex Beaux Regards Chardonnay NV
Champagne, FranceCreated in 1847, Champagne Bérèche et Fils is a grower with 9.5 hectares of land, predominantly situated in Montagne des Reims. Brothers Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche are the current generation running the family estate. Terroir-focused, they farm without herbicides, and all wines undergo tirer à liege - where the second fermentation takes place under cork rather than capsule. They believe this allows more oxygen into the bottle resulting in finer bubbles and a seamless texture. A blancs de blanc, some 70 percent comes off a single vineyard in Ludes planted in 1902. It spends three years on the lees. This bottle is the 2010 vintage (though not identified as a single vintage fizz), disgorged January 2014. A lovely and pure white blossom florality lifts the chardonnay off the creamy, fine lemon curd lined palate. Acidity is lemon crisp, chalk dusted, and firm, playing off that seamless texture desired by the house. Quite complex and structured, while holding that tightrope of acidity.Tasted: 05 December 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:UK | $50.00 | 750ml |
