Garzón Albariño Estate 2015
Garzón, Maldonado, San José, UruguayThe wine growing and making is a three-way project at Garzón involving Alberto Antonini, German Bruzzone, and Eduardo Felix. A superb vintage has yielded a delicious version of this famous Spanish grape variety. Full flavour development occurred at a slightly higher sugar level than in 2014, resulting in more alcohol but terrific acidity. After a few days, post pressing, on the lees, the settled and racked juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks and kept on the lees for six months. Expect bright stone fruit aromatics and a rich mouthfeel. The palate is a balanced mix of peach and apricot fruit suspended by a perfect level of acidity. It's a head-turner, fresh and lively, full of minerality and a whiff of the sea. It's crazy good for the price: a fantastic seafood wine and a stunning statement for Uruguay.Tasted: 29 December 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $34.95 | 750ml | Marquis Wine Cellars |
