Stag's Hollow Grenache 2015

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIs it too picky to complain about a BC grenache that is too ripe? There’s a raisin note that pervades the pepper and super sweet raspberry and cherry aromas and flavours. The savoury mid-palate helps pull it back in before more raisins and prune/plums mark the finish. There’s 12 percent syrah in the mix, helping explain the meaty undercurrent. A little more Paso Robles, a little less Rhone, but then it is all Okanagan. I’m guessing it will have many fans but I’m willing to wait another year for a little more purity. It had no problem standing up to a curried chicken dish.Tasted: 21 October 2016Tasted by: Prices:
