Paul Jaboulet Aîné Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert 2013

Crozes Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FrancePaul Jaboulet purchased Thalabert in 1834 and it is also the oldest single vineyard of the appellation. It has proven to be an excellent site over the decades, showing a great ability to age. Today the pebbly terraces that support the 60 to 80-year-old-vines are farmed biodynamically. Yields are an impressively low 25 hl/ha and the wine sees only about 20 percent new oak. The 2013 is a very fine bottle of Thalabert. The nose is an aromatic offering of finely ground pepper, black fruits, Christmas cake, licorice and a stony minerality. The attack is fresh with bright acidity but there is enough fruit and tannin to keep it all in check. It definitely has a decade of life ahead. Great with roast turkey.Tasted: 24 October 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
