Aosta Valley, ItalyFrom Valle D'Aosta, though this medium bodied white isn't labeled as such because there are no IGT designations outside of the main DOC in this region. Since this is a non-standard blend, the only alternative is to label it "Product of Italy", which is not very helpful. So let me help you: this is a blend of prié blanc (the only native white variety of the region), müller thurgau, pinot bianco, pinot grigio and chardonnay grown on loose, sandy soils between 600-850m. A gentle pressing and six months in stainless steel on the lees with battonage has well preserved the crisp northern Italian fruit. Almonds, tight lemon, subtle elderflower, chamomile, pear skin skip along the slight 12% palate, nimble with mountainous acidity, bedded on broken stones, rife with salinity, and unadorned by wood or winemaking. Try this with fresh oysters instead of Muscadet.Tasted: 23 January 2022Tasted by: Prices:
Aosta Valley, ItalyLes Crêtes makes about 20,000 cases of wine a year from fruit grown in Italy’s Aosta Valley. This vineyard boasts a 16th Century Côteau la Tour (tower) situated at the highest point of the vines. The soils are a mixture of sand and calcareous rocks, 650 to 800 metres above sea level, and the vines, both indigenous and international vinifera, include petite arvine, petit rouge, fumin, mayolet, cornalin, chardonnay, pinot noir, syrah and muscat. The mon blanc is a property blend that sees no oak but does undergo six months of sur lies maturation with continual batônnage. The style is juicy with a mix of fresh fruit reminiscent of peaches and green apple with the aforementioned lees, citrus and a stony undercurrent. Perfectly dry, it will go with most seafood options including white fish, clams, mussels and crab.Tasted: 28 August 2017Tasted by: Prices:

A juicy core of white peach, meadow honey, green apple, green fig and subtle honeyed melon is well lined with lees and engraved with stones, finishing with a wash of lemon. Dry, with mineral interest, this is a natural for white fish, mild white sausage or light shellfish soups.Tasted: 18 October 2016Tasted by: Prices:
