CedarCreek Platinum Desert Ridge Single Vineyard Merlot 2013
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaDusty violets imbue this ripe, plummy, medium-bodied merlot from Desert Ridge Vineyard in Osoyoos. The stony soils seem expressed in the grippy structure, one flushed out with sun-primed cassis, wild blueberries and lovely perfumed plum. Tannins are slightly sticky, contrasting to the silky, elongated palate, before a dusting of cinnamon bark closes out the finish. This is what merlot is supposed to be - a gentle, but generous hug.
