Familia Castaño Casa C Cisca Monastrell 2012

Yecla, Valencia and Murcia, SpainBush vines over sixty years of age, planted at 700m altitude and on stony, sandy soils make up this layered monastrell from Yecla. Perfumed violets, wild blackberry and anise is textured with peppercorns, tobacco, flighting meaty notes, and a drying, earthy, grip of tannins. Noticeable astringent wood on the finish (sixteen months in oak here), but complexed throughout, and invites pairing with herbed lamb or pork.Tasted: 14 September 2016Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:
