Stag's Hollow Viognier Hearle Vineyard 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaAs much as I enjoyed the 2013 the ’14 may be better. The heat is viogner’s friend and there was plenty in 2014. The fruit is whole cluster pressed, cold settled and then moved to 100 percent tight grained French oak barrels (20 percent second fill, and 40 percent third fill, in 40 percent neutral oak) for fermentation and finally aged sur lees for six months prior to bottling. Classic white peaches, ginger, marmalade and floral notes. The palate is similar with a whiff of lees for complexity and along creamy, but not fat, palate. Impressive and more evidence this variety should have a home in BC. Anything in a creamy sauce works here: chicken, pork, rabbit pasta or Thai Pad.Tasted: 08 August 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
