Signorello Hope's Cuvée Chardonnay 2014

Napa Valley, California, United StatesHope’s Cuvée is big on texture and weight with an expressive nose of honeysuckle, hazelnuts, orange blossoms, butterscotch, and apricots The palate is equally rich, mixing pears, apricots, and toasted nuts with a touch of resin and vanilla. As rich as it is, there is some elegance here: New World style with a European twist. Hope’s Cuvée is the pinnacle white at Signorello; it pays homage to Ray’s mother, Hope Signorello. The 36 year-old, old-clone fruit, comes off a 5.12-acre parcel on the west side of the Signorello hill and is among the oldest chardonnay vineyard in Napa Valley. The wine is made with natural yeast and is bottled unfiltered after spending seven months in 56 percent new French oak barrels. Approximately 50 percent of the wine goes through malolactic fermentation.Tasted: 25 August 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
