Nk'Mip Cellars Mer'r'iym Meritage 2013

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMer'r'iym (or mur'-eem' as it is pronounced) translates to marriage, a notion winemaker Randy Picton plays with as he brings together merlot and cabernet sauvignon with malbec and cabernet franc. This is heady stuff from the southern Okanagan – warm and ripe it is a rich mix of cherries and chocolate, tobacco, dried herbs, raisin-y black fruits. The tannins are blocky and will need some time to settle down and let the fruit punch through. The finish is long and warm, mixing coffee, chocolate and more spicy black fruits and a warm finish. If you are going to drink it now, game would be a fine menu choice, and be sure to decant this wine for 45 minutes to an hour.Tasted: 10 October 2016Tasted by: Prices:
