Napa Valley, California, United States"Synthesis" is a combination of Napa Valley vineyards, mixing silky, red fruit from Stags Leap District, dusty Rutherford fruit and big, powerful mountain fruit from Diamond Mountain's rocky volcanic soil. In 2013 the region was heat-spike free, leading to perfect fruit. Synthesis is the best of the best, from its dried savoury herb notes to figgy, plum, blueberry flavours. The textures are remarkably soft, the tannins chalky and generous, making it approachable now but this will age a decade. Grilled meats are the ticket here. All Napa Valley.
